With growing enthusiasm for sports and the concept of healthy living gaining popularity, more and more seniors are eager to take part in athletic activities and reignite their competitive spirit. In response to this eagerness, the Hong Kong Masters Athletics Club (HKMAC) was established in 2013, becoming a vital platform for the development of senior athletics.
Initiated by Mr. WONG Wai Ho and Mr. FUNG Wang Tak (Pui Kiu), the club was formed by a dedicated core team of seven former elite athletes of Mr. WONG Wai Ho (Pui Kiu), Mr. KO Leung Hung (DBS), Mr. LIU Chi Keung (CSRA), Ms. TSE Wah Sau, Ms. LOK Suet Yee and and Mr. PANG Kai Chiu (South China Athletics Association), united by a shared vision, aimed to create a professional platform for sports enthusiasts aged 35 or above, through systematic training and competitions, HKMAC would bring together like-minded individuals, inspiring every participant to sweat on the athletic track and field, push their limits and fulfill their enduring athletic dreams again.
In November 2014, the HKMAC achieved a significant milestone by successfully hosting the inaugural Hong Kong Masters Athletics Meet. This event featured age-specific categories, igniting the competitive spirit of senior athletes and providing a stage for moments of self-transcendence. Since then, the championships have become a symbol of perseverance and passion, allowing senior athletes of all ages to find their own glory. The HKMAC continues to play a crucial role in promoting athletics among seniors, fostering a supportive environment for those who wish to embrace the thrill of competition and the joy of physical fitness.
